Who We Are

Ashroy Foundation is a women-headed, national voluntary development organization established in 1998 in Khulna, in the south-west region of Bangladesh. It was founded by a group of dedicated and courageous women and social workers who came together to respond to the inhuman conditions, oppression, and inequality women and children faced in family and society — often without entrepreneurial or institutional support.

Ashroy Foundation is registered with the Directorate of Women and Children Affairs and the NGO Affairs Bureau, and operates as a non-profit, non-government organization. (See Registration for full details.)

The General Body of Ashroy Foundation consists of 21 members (all women), of whom 7 form the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee provides strategic leadership toward achieving the organization's goals and objectives. (See Organogram for our full structure.)

Core Competencies

Ashroy Foundation has deep, field-tested knowledge and experience in planning and implementing programs related to:

  • Climate change, disaster risk reduction (DRR), flood and water resource management, emergency response, recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and non-formal education under the Lifelong Learning (LLL) framework, including TVET.
